Engineering Division
The Engineering Division of the Public Works Department serves the Town in many diverse roles. This division is responsible for performing engineering reviews for all development plans for projects in Erie, including residential subdivisions and commercial developments. Engineering manages the Town's five-year Capital Improvement program, which is updated annually and includes streets, transportation, distribution and collection, stormwater, water treatment and water reclamation projects. These projects are managed through the planning, design, bidding and construction phases.
Construction inspectors perform inspections of all public infrastructure improvements, including roads, curb and gutter, sidewalks, water, sewer, and stormwater facilities. The construction inspectors also perform inspection and project coordination for the capital improvement projects and subdivisions.
The Engineering Division interacts frequently with other governmental and private agencies including, but not limited to, Colorado Department of Transportation, Qwest, Xcel Energy, United Power, KN Energy, Denver Regional Council of Governments, and neighboring municipalities.
