Lynn R. Morgan Water Treatment Facility

In March 2000, the Town of Erie's new Lynn R. Morgan Water Treatment Facility began operation. This state-of-the-art facility replaces the Town's aging 1.2 million-gallon per day (mgd) facility, built in 1971. The new 4.0 mgd facility was expanded to 6.0 mgd in July 2001. It utilizes membrane filtration technology to remove microbial contaminants. The water division works to operate and maintain this equipment and to meet the demands of the system.

State certified water plant employees work to ensure Erie's water customers are provided with safe drinking water, testing the water several times each day in accordance with state and federal requirements. Raw water deliveries are balanced to match the contractual requirements of the Town's water rights and leases.

The Safe Drinking Water Act of 1996 requires all water utilities provide Consumer Confidence Reports to their customers. The Town of Erie issued the first of these water quality annual reports in 1999. The reports discuss valuable information regarding the source and quality of your drinking water and specific water quality issues which may have arisen and how the water treatment facility is handling them to protect public health
