Licenses and Permits

GENERAL BUSINESS and HOME OCCUPATION LICENSES:

All commercial or home occupation businesses located or doing business within the town limits of Erie are required to apply for a Business/Home Occupation License.  All businesses must have the Building Department approval and may require a site visit and inspection by Town of Erie building inspectors.

Sales Tax

As a Statutory town, the Town of Erie's sales tax is collected by the State of Colorado.  Please contact the Colorado Department of Revenue for more information.

ANIMAL LICENSES:
Dogs owned by residents in the Town of Erie must be licensed each calendar year.

Every owner of a dog over six months of age shall have the animal licensed within 30 days after it is brought into the Town. The owner shall furnish the following information:

  1. The name, physical address and telephone number of the owner of the dog.
  2. If the dog is neutered or spayed, you need proof from a veterinarian.
  3. Proof of current rabies vaccination.
Fees:
  • Spayed or neutered dogs: $10.00.
  • Non-spayed or non-neutered dogs: $15.00.

    USE OF PUBLIC FACILITIES:
    If you are planning on using any public facilities (i.e. ballfields, parks, etc.) you must contact the Recreation Coordinator at (303) 926-2790 to make reservations.

    If you are planning on conducting a special event on a public location (i.e. public streets, sidewalks, parks, etc.), you must complete a Special Public Events Permit specifying the event and location.
