The Board approved the extension of the Town’s current temporary medical marijuana moratorium to July 1, 2011, in conformance with the terms of House Bill 10-1284. The extension was requested by Town staff in order to provide the necessary time to investigate, develop and present regulations concerning such businesses. [more]

During Tuesday night’s meeting, the Erie Board of Trustees approved the Special Review Use and Site Plan applications for the Boulder Valley Velodrome. According to the applicant, Frank Banta of Boneshaker, LLC, this will be the first velodrome built to Olympic guidelines in the United States since 2004 and will be of interest to the world cycling community. Proposed Erie Gas-to-Energy Project to Cut Area CO2 Emissions by 30,000 Metric Tons Through Reduced Use of Fossil Fuels. The project proposes to capture methane from the Front Range and Denver Regional Landfills, providing for a sustainable renewal energy source, and prevent the equivalent of approximately 30,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide from reaching the atmosphere each year through avoiding the use of additional fossil fuels. Town of Erie Board of Trustees Action Items - March 9, 2010

The Board of Trustees approved a construction agreement with Namaste Solar for the construction of a 96.1 kW photovoltaic (PV) solar system for the Leon A. Wurl Service Center in an amount not to exceed $480,684. The Town has been pre-qualified for an Xcel Energy Solar Rebate in the amount of $192,150 for this project and will also receive Solar Renewable Energy Credits in the amount of $0.10 per kilowatt hour (kWh) produced. Open Range Communications is a WiMAX (wireless internet) service provider deploying its service within the Town through a series of antennas and microwave dishes and other associated equipment.
