Explore the Town’s 2018 "Open Budget”

Open Budget Drives Greater Government Accountability and Transparency

2018 Budget expenditures are now available for review on the Town of Erie’s easy-to-use financial transparency app “Open Budget.” The Open Budget application presents government budget information in an intuitive visual manner allowing users to dig down into the budget, exploring how funds are allocated across government departments, programs and capital improvement projects.

Here’s what's inside Open Budget:

Operating Budget: Allows users to see the operating expenses portion of the budget, or more specifically the day-to-day expenses needed to keep the government's ongoing programs functioning.

Capital Budget: Allows users to see the part of the budget designated for one-time infrastructure and improvement projects such as roads and bridges.

Open Budget is in support of the Town’s overall transparency initiative and allows users with and without budget data experience, to better understand expenditures in these categories.

BACKGROUND:  On December 12th, the Board of Trustees adopted the Town of Erie’s Budget for the calendar year beginning January 1, 2018.  Total revenues across all funds are projected to be $68 million. The General Fund has a budgeted surplus of $687,000.
